This project was rightfully named the "Finn Street Flip". This was our first project as SK Design & Co. The project was located in St. Paul in an awesome upcoming area surrounded by restaurants, retail, fun and colleges.
This was a college house that had gone through many events and was in need of a makeover. The house was built in the 1950's and had not been touched with the exception of the basement being finished. Dream project!
At our initial consultation I learned that my clients where ready to sell the home hopefully over asking price. They wanted to bring the home back to life, on a budget, in a 4-6 week time frame. When can we start?!
Walk through - this is a very exciting part of the project for me. I get to see the space and develop a vision based on my clients wish list. I was ecstatic to discover beautiful, original wood floors underneath the carpet that covered the entire main level living spaces. A kitchen that was original, I'm talking yellow floors, yellow 1950's counter tops, and beautiful oak cabinetry. Although very dirty, nothing elbow grease, a sander, stain and a new counter-top design concept can't fix!
We turned the galley kitchen into a beautiful light, functional kitchen with seating and more counter space. Painted the entire house a lighter warm beige. Refinished the hardwood floors, installed new carpet in the basement, removed the giant awnings on the outside of the home plus added additional landscaping.
My clients were thrilled with the final results! The house received the makeover it so needed, project ended on budget, and the house sold over asking price to wonderful people who absolutely love their new home!
